“perfect punk/indie blend…catchy hook, but a frenetic beat that invites you to dance like no one is watching.”
-Elizabeth Schneider, Impose Magazine
Originally separated by 2,800 kilometres and a national border, it was through iPhone demos that Chris Dimas and Gage McGuire came together to form Surf Dads. They burst out the gates with fervor, releasing three EPs in the span of just three months. Now progressing to LP, Surf Dads are slated to release their debut album All Day Breakfast on April 7 2017. Surf Dads have proved to be as tenacious as they are productive, just like every good surfer and dad ought to be. Touring relentlessly, including a stint with mid-fi indie darlings and fellow prairie-dwellers Library Voices, Surf Dads first year saw them play nearly a hundred shows throughout North America and the UK. After appearances at festivals such as M For Montreal, Canadian Music Week, The Great Escape, and Liverpool Sound City, they have honed some sweet road skills and know just how to get a live crowd up and at ‘em. Surf Dads thrive on the energy and spirit of the live performance, and they want you to come rock out with them, so you can see for yourself.
Once described as “Weezer on speed”, Surf Dads plays fast and loud, often leaving the stage bruised and bleeding with broken guitars to match. Gritty, grungey, beachy, and full-on, Surf Dads are ready to knock your high tops off at the 2017 DCMF.
