Fernie B.C. based Shred Kelly have been re-defining what folk-rock means since they got together. Tim Newton, Sage McBride, Jordan Vlasschaert, Ian Page-Shiner, and Ty West have amplified the traditional sound of folk music with a more contemporary approach, infused with their unique and diverse musical backgrounds. Pushing the boundaries of the genre, Shred Kelly has incorporated a wide range of influences to create a sound that’s been dubbed ‘Stoke Folk’. The band is best known for their dynamic and engaging live shows that leave no dance floor empty. With their bright and sunny west coast vibes, Shred Kelly is skilfully crafted music with a fun and vibrant energy.
Their sound echoes beyond the mountains– Shred Kelly has performed sold out shows across Canada, including gigs at some of the nation’s premier festivals, and they’ve got a growing collection of awards too. Shred Kelly recently won Album of the Year and Best Live Act at the 2015 Kootenay Music Awards and won a 2015 Western Canadian Music Award for Best Music Video for their single “Sing to the Night”.
Shred Kelly released their 3rd album Sing To The Night in 2015. The album represents a new depth in creative process, highlighting the band’s signature claw-hammer banjo riffs, layered ambient synth, powerhouse rock, and sweet vocal harmonies.
