"Dawson City Music Festival is a non-profit organization with long-standing cultural, social and economic contributions to our community.
DCMF operates year-round with community programming and a song writer residency, in addition to the 4-day summer festival. The music festival has demonstrated an impressive ability to attract volunteers, involving newcomers to Dawson as well as established residents, and connecting different demographics of our community. The summer festival attracts a town-full of visitors, over 75% of which stay for 3 or 4 nights, filling our hotels, restaurants, cafes, shops and casino. The festival also garners media interest like no other local event, and puts the spotlight on Dawson as a destination to markets across Canada and beyond. A recent economic impact study has shown that money spent at the 2010 DCMF created direct and indirect impacts on the Yukon’s GDP of almost $600,000 and that spending supported the equivalent of 13.7 full time jobs in the Territory.
The music festival puts Dawson on the map with a wide demographic, brings customers to our community businesses, and meanwhile offers excellence in arts presentation and community engagement- congratulations DCMF."
