Dennis Allen and the Hellhounds

Whether as a filmmaker, a family man, or a blues musician, Dennis Allen is a born storyteller, and it’s his stories that set him apart from the many talented blues players in the Whitehorse scene. He tells classic blues stories about love and loss, but also stories close to home – a deep and nuanced take on what Allen calls the “red man blues.”  Although the Inuvik-born Allen learned the blues from records, he’s a true flamekeeper of the tradition, drawing on his hometown and bush-life experiences on his remarkable original songs. We’re pleased to have this remarkable multi-disciplinary artist make his DCMF debut with an electric blues band (Tom Barnaby, Jude Waldman and Steve Slade).
