Gigi French

Montreal, QC

Born in Halifax, Giselle grew up in Vancouver and Toronto, until she moved to Montreal in 1999, where she learned how to sing the French of the Québécois. Gigi French tells us bittersweet tales of Quebec life that touch heavy topics, such as suicide, drug and gambling addiction, post-natal depression, domestic abuse, government corruption and sketchy hunting techniques, all from a uniquely optimistic perspective. She also sings of her fantasies, her fears for the future, and her profound love of nature. Sometimes jazz, pop, klezmer and often swing, her tunes are strangely intriguing, still managing to capture the stench of the French bistro.
