The Dawson City Music Festival Association is looking for an energetic administrator to assist with various office and on-site duties for the 39th annual Dawson City Music Festival.

The successful candidate will assist with general office administration and production duties as assigned by the Executive Director. If you have administrative experience, preferably in the arts, have a familiarity with festivals in general or DCMF in specific, and love Canadian music, we’d like to hear from you.

The successful candidate must be highly self-motivated, have excellent oral and written communication skills, preferably have festival experience (paid or unpaid), and be familiar with standard office computer applications (Word, Excel, Outlook). The ideal candidate is polite, organized, and eager to work in a fast-paced Festival environment.

The wage for this position is $15.50 per hour. It is a 14-week position starting Tuesday, May 16th based on 35 hours per week.

Candidates must be willing to work flexible hours, including long hours close to the festival, and both evening and weekend work will be required.

Students who are eligible:
-are between 19 and 30 years of age;
-have been registered as a full-time student in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year;
-are Canadian citizens or permanent residents or have official refugee protection status under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (foreign students are not eligible); and
-are legally entitled to work in Canada, according to relevant territorial legislation and regulations.

YUKON GIRLS ROCK CAMP – COORDINATOR

Reporting to the Dawson City Music Festival’s Executive Director and in collaboration with the Yukon Girls Rock Camp Committee, the Program Coordinator is responsible for the planning and implementation of an annual 6-day youth day camp. Duties and responsibilities include event promotion, data management, creating camp schedule, scheduling staff and volunteers, volunteer recruitment, youth supervision, liaising with community partnering agencies, preparing final funding reports and creating recommendations for future camps and programs.

Yukon Girls Rock Camp welcomes women and gender non-conforming candidates aged 19 years and older to apply, who are strongly self-motivated, task-oriented, and who feel comfortable taking initiative and working autonomously with direction from the organizing committee.

About Yukon Girls Rock Camp

Yukon Girls Rock Camp aims at amplifying girls and gender non-conforming youths’ voices through rock music for healing, growth, and change. YGRC is part of a world-wide movement of Girls Rock Camps in which campers learn an instrument, form bands, and write an original song to perform at the Dawson City Music Festival main stage during our flagship summer festival. In addition to music instruction, YGRC empowers youth with workshops on gender issues, media literacy and  community activism. YGRC is a space where girls and gender nonconforming youth can express themselves in a safe and empathetic environment.

Schedule and Remuneration

Term: May 15 – Sept 15, 2017 (16 weeks)

Starting wage: $16.00/hour

This is a seasonal, part-time position with up to 20 hours per
week with additional hours between July 10-28, 2017.
