Dawson Music Festival Staff and Board of Directors 2019 Dawson City Yukon

Heartfelt Gratitude from the staff and Board of Directors

The Dawson City Music Festival staff and Board of Directors would like to express our sincerest appreciation to everyone who took part in the 2019 Festival; the performers, the tech crews working tirelessly into the night, the several hundred volunteers it takes to bring the Festival to life (both long-timers and first-timers), and of course, you, our beloved audience.

Our thank yous are further extended to the sponsors, funders, and partners who are instrumental in the success and sustainability of our organization. Our lead sponsors for the 2019 Festival are Air North, Grenon Enterprises, GroundTruth Exploration, the Klondike Visitor’s Association, and Yukon Brewing. We also thank the Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in, who have hosted us and this annual event on traditional lands and territories since our organization’s inception in 1979.

Twelve months ago, we celebrated our 40th anniversary with enormous gratitude and humble pride. As we roll into our fifth decade of programming, the Board of Directors would like to thank our creative and dedicated Festival Producer, Andrea Vincent, who continually raises the bar for our organization and for the Yukon’s musical landscape as a whole.

The 2019 lineup featured incredibly talented award-winning performers from coast to coast to northern coast. We are thrilled to have presented a program that spanned an impressive range of genres and highlighted many important voices. It was a lovely treat to see the LGBTQ2S+ and Transgender flags officially raised for the week leading up to the Festival. We thank Mayor Wayne Potoroka and Dawson City for the commitment to equality in our community.

A well-deserved shout-out is also addressed to both of our phenomenal summer staff, Fiona Rettie and Sara-Wray Enns, who knocked it out of the park this year. The bar is high, and we appreciate all of the hard work you’ve done to make the 2019 DCMF a truly memorable event.

Whether you found yourself at the Mainstage screaming along to the The Jerry Cans and Wintersleep, bawling your eyes out at the Palace Grand Theatre (thanks Quantum Tangle, Lido Pimienta, and Beverly Glenn Copeland), or barrelling down the Slip & Slide on Saturday afternoon, we’re happy that you joined us and we hope to see you again next year.

As a final note of appreciation – thank you to the firefighters and Yukon Protective Services who have given so much time and energy to the territory and Klondike region this last month. Though the Festival saw clear blue skies and sunshine, we know that the work isn’t over and we appreciate your efforts in keeping our lands intact and residents safe.
