MADAME GANDHI
Madame Gandhi is the critically acclaimed project of Kiran Gandhi – Los Angeles-based musician, activist, and music industry thinker who grew up in New York City and Bombay, India. Kiran gained recognition as the former drummer for M.I.A. and as the iconic free-bleeding runner at the 2015 London Marathon, as well as for her work with Thievery Corporation. Currently, Madame Gandhi DJ’s, drums and produces electronic music that intricately blends elements of rap, trap and pop.

Not only is Madame Gandhi a prolific musician with critical acclaim from outlets like FADER, Paper Mag and Milk, she is an activist and vocal advocate for gender liberation and girls, women’s and LGBTQ2 rights. As an activist, Madame Gandhi uses her voice, music and written work to empower her audiences to be their best and authentic selves. And if we couldn’t be any more inspired -Madame Gandhi holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Political Science and Women’s Studies from Georgetown and an MBA from Harvard University (which she simultaneously pursued while touring with M.I.A.). Combining her passion for mathematics and music, Madame Gandhi served as Interscope Records first ever digital analyst, driving data for artists like Lady Gaga and Kendrick Lamar. Upon releasing her self-described “elelctrofeminist” solo EP Voices, Madame Gandhi now tours extensively and is working on her next record.

“Her debut EP, Voices, travels the borderlands between electroclash, trap, and downtempo. It delivers its activism in dance music…Leave it to a drummer to voice the resistance. They’re disruptive and loud, but it’s also the drums that establish the rhythm. It’s the drummer we all dance to”.
– Colin Rabyniuk, Sharp Magazine

“As a musician, Madame Gandhi is truly a unique and highly creative artist that could be considered a musical alchemist. On her Voices EP, she brilliantly weaves hip-hop, electronic, pop and a variety of other genres with her feminism and social stance to create an emotional, resonating project “
-Mark Braboy, VIBE
